I would definitely have to say Jeff Gordon. I've been hearing about him since I've been young and he's so popular that his name actually stuck. Only during my teenage years did I learn of who Dale Erhardt Jr. was.

Are you people kidding. Dale Jr. is the most popular driver in the state of NC. I have never seen so many people hate Gordon and Stewart as I have here. Ever been to a race at Lowes? Those sounds from the crowd when Gordon is introduced are boos, not moooovers.

Of the three you mention, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is the only one who actually lives in North Carolina. If I remember correctly Gordon lives in Florida and I know that Tony Stewart lives in Indiana.
Of the three drivers named, I would say that he is the most popular, here in NC. However I doubt that he is the most popular NASCAR driver among North Carolinians. That honor probably falls to the King, Richard Petty or Jr.'s late father .
I am from North Carolina and my favorite driver, right now, is from Bakersfield, California. Keven Harvick does now live in NC.

Dale JR is the most popular in nascar and hes from North Carolina so you know its JR hands down

Of course it is Dale Jr! Have you ever been to a race? There's nothing louder there (besides the cars) than the fans when Jr. takes the lead. He's been voted most popular driver for the last four years in a row.

The Earnhardts by far, Dale first, Dale jr. next. Even though he's dead, he still holds his own.

Junior!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tony Stuart mabey, he's got more dirt track fans, but Junior's got more asphalt fans, and Dale Earnhardt is still loved, so Junior gets a lot from family.
