Do NOT give him any at all. Ibuprofen is TOXIC to dogs.

Call your veterinarian they can give you something safe for your dog and at the right dosage as well.

You had better check with your vet. I don't know that dogs can have ibuprofen. Aspirin is OK, probably 1/2 to 1 tablet for a 160 lb. dog.

Glucosamine Chondroitin & Sulfate, and MSM are OK for joints, for his size a human dose is probably OK.

If he is older and has arthritis you can also give a pet massage - look online for videos and books. Be more gentle than you would with a human - a gentle massage with a couple fingers along the sides of each vertebrae (not on the spine) on either side of the neck, spine, and continuing all the way to the very tip of the tail (just massage GENTLY with thumb and fingers between each vertebrae) is one good one.

I used all of these and accupuncture for my German Shepherd as she got older. Accupuncture, massage, and glucosamine worked the best for her.

If you love your dog PLEASE check with your vet before self diagnosing & medicating him.

If I remember correctly Ibuprofen is toxic to dogs. You can however give him just plain asprin. I have a 150 pound Rottweiler and I give him 2 tablets that are 325 mg each.

None. I am a vet assistant and giving your dog ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers as well as kidney and liver problems. Also do not give asprin or naproxen (Aleve). Tylenol is toxic in excessive doses, but it also is not effective against pain in dogs. You should call your vet and see about getting a canine pain reliever.

Do not give your dog ibuprofen. You can go to the pet store and get K-9 aspirin and it will have the dosage that is safe for your dog.

A friend told us to give our lab the same thing and she became very ill. Our vet set that we should never give IB to a dog.

None - you will cause stomach bleeding. If it is joint pain use a glucosomine/condroitan joint formula and a product called S.O.D. (3tabs a day) at the vitamin store

Ibuprofen is ok, but dosage is critical! You really should caoo a vet and see what he recommends. This medication can cause the kidneys to shut down in just one overdose, please call your vet-for you and your doggie's sake.
