The simple answer is to mix blue and red.
Depending on the color of blue and the color of red you are mixing, you may have to mix in some other colors to achieve the color purple you are looking for. For instance, if, when you initially mix the blue and red you find that the purple is too blue, mix in some yellow. (Yellow is the compliment to blue and so it will tone down and neutralize the blue.) If it is too red, mix in some green - this will neutralize the red. If you end up liking the purple but find it is too dark, mix in some white. If it's too light, mix in some black. Have fun experimenting!

red and blue make purple. If u want a deeper more violet purple you mix more blue and less red.

you would mix a cool red and a warm blue
a cool red looks a little purple a warm red would look more orange
a warm blue would look more purple a cool blue more green.

Try Ultramine Blue and Alizarin Crimson. It's a "warm" blue and a "cool red" but it works anyway - GORGEOUS - and a TRUE violet.
