You remember in school how all the popular people hung out together acting like they were to good for anyone else?
Or all the other groups?

Do you think that you are teaching your kids to be that way?
I am wondering because i notice alot of people on here acting like they are in highschool sticking together and if they don't agree with you them then them and all their friends attacks you!

This IS like highschool! I have no friends here either!

I would never teach my child to be like that. I was the girl with pink hair sitting with the smelly/fat kids at lunch.

No, I am teaching my children to think for themselves and not simply be a lemming and follow along. I am also teaching them that they have to live with their decisions and that is more important than what someone else thinks. I have never been one for cliques and still am not. My youngest is severely autistic and non-verbal...you cannot live with someone like that and be worried about what other people may think. My children are above the clique mentality and I am very proud of them for it.

I am with you, and well aware that they exist as early as kindergarten, particularly for the little girls. My daughter encounters a couple daily.

To combat it, I consistently explain the purpose of the clique, and why they act the way they do. She is friends with a couple kids who hang in these cliques, but will not participate (at least now she doesn't) because she can see how it hurts other kids who aren't "special" or "cool".

God only knows how highschool will go, but it's my goal in life not only to prevent her from being one of those stuck-up, tyrranical Mean Girls, but to teach her to proudly stand up for herself and stand up against them whenever she needs to.

Yeah, times have changed, kid, they've gotten scarier.

Cliques is how mankind have survived for their entire species's lifetime. Whether it be creed, nationality, or religion, we all need people to fall back on and back us up because of what we are.
