The NFL forum has people enjoying talking about football, not people saying, "Football sucks" etc. Books & Authors has questions about certain books and how to get into publishing. But here people just talk non-sense. Its perfectly fine to have different views, but can't you guys at least be sincere about it? Be respectful. Everyone.

there is nothing wrong with joking around, even a rant can be a good thing. there are a lot of passionate people on this site, but most would never disrespect someone else's beliefs.

it's when people start bashing that it can get bad.

The devil sent the mockers and scoffers and scorners! They serve him whether they want to believe it or not. Let them mock for now. When Christ comes in all His glory there will not be one mocker, scoffer or scorner who will open his or her
mouth. THE POEM BELOW SHOULD HELP!

Fools make a mock of sin
Will not believe
It carries such a dagger in its sleeve.

How can it be they say
that such a things
So full of sweetness
Could ever have a sting?

They know not
That it is the very spell
Of sin
That makes men laugh themselves to Hell!

The difference between religion and those subjects is that religion has a lot more strong beliefs and viewpoints surrounding it. It would be impossible to expect everyone to get along when there is some strong disagreements. It's not like something say like the cooking section is gonna have the same strong beliefs surrounding it.

some arguements are going to happen.

and some levity is needed.

It's not ok to joke around and have fun while we dialogue?

No football jokes in the football section?

No funny stories amongst books and authors?

This section is way more fun!

No we can't. It is holy indeed to rant, mock and joke around about religion. And the nonsense comes at you from all sides. Most of the really silly stuff I read here is written by folks who are quite serious.

"Respect" is a variable term that varies by perception of the person reading it. I try to be as respectful as I can, but be that it may, I refuse to tolerate hate speech... and I do have a sense of humor, so while i don't mock people, I don't take myself to seriously.

They're afraid to open their minds to any other viewpoint besides their own. If they were more open they may actually learn something valuable or interesting. They're proud of their ignorance.
