A student of mine pulled out a bottle of prescription eye drops today, telling me that he had high blood pressure of the eyes. He said that if it's not treated he can develop glaucoma. He's 16, and this sounds completely illogical, but, I also didn't major in biology or medicine in school.

He more than likely already has glaucoma and is misunderstanding his present medical condition.
It is possible that high blood pressure can affect your vision but to affect it like he is telling you is not possible.
Glaucoma drops have color coded lids and I would betcha the lid to his bottle is either green, yellow or blue though there may be some other colors that I am not aware of these days.
And yes,it is possible for someone this age to have glaucoma. Some babies are born with it though it is not very common.

Um...not as far as I know. The eyes do not contain blood. They contain...eye fluid. I forget what it's called. And high pressure of the eye fluid is called glaucoma. I suppose high blood pressure in the vessels around the eyes might cause glaucoma, though.

Yes, it's entirely possible. Glaucoma is an increase in pressure inside the eyes themselves, so he may be showing the first signs of it. In some people it is hereditary, but in others, it is situational, and treating it early is the best thing he can do.

No he's talking about increased intraocular eye pressure which is a lot like hypertension except it's in the eyes and not the blood vessels. If left untreated it causes chronic glaucoma
