My puppy is 9 weeks, can he still develop a different color fur? He is black but his mom is brindle and I wondered if he may turn brindle.

Hes just a mix, his dads a yellow lab and his mom is a pit mix, but he has the exact markings and colors of a Rottweiler. I have no idea how.

You can sometimes see changes by 6 weeks, in other cases the 'puppy coat' isn't lost until 4 months or later. He might be dark brindle but the streaks haven't become noticeable yet; try checking him in really good light, especially on the legs.

I just worked on a dog that was 1 yr and 1 month and the owner told me that when she was born she was completely black and that over the last few months she changed color. It is a teddy bear dog, (shih tzu and lhasa/bichon). I hear that that happens often. Maybe it's like poodles, it takes a year for the wirey coat to come in. It comes in faster if you shave it down.

He should've shown by now. Think about 101 Dalmations and how they're born without spots, but yes, they do get them by about 6-8 weeks. If he was going to be a brindle, it should've shown by now.

it depends on the dog. i have a border collie mix and he recently started to get brindle striping so it depends on the breed
