There is a lady that I was working with that hasn't come back to work in 6 days. No one can get a hold of her and we've left messages asking her if she's ok. She recently moved here for her boyfriend from out of state and she's not the type of person that would just leave without a word. Plus, she left a few thousand $$$ worth equipment at our office and I think she would have come back for it by now if she would have just quit. I finally got my manager to call the police and ask them to do a welfare check to make sure she was ok and they said they'd get back to us as soon as they knew something that was this afternoon. The town that she lives in with her boyfriend is small and they'd have an officer available to go right away and check. So far no news has come so what does that mean? I'm really worried about her and I hope she's ok.

She just moved from out of state so she doesn't have any friends or family here. She's older without any children so there isn't really anyone we can talk to. The emergency contact she gave us is her boyfriend and he's not answering the phone either. We can't just call and ask because the store manager is in charge of the situation and if we did call we'd probably get in trouble. The manager said that he'd let us know. I just couldn't see her leaving town with out all her stuff, I mean litterally thousands $$$ and she talked about her stuff all the time and how much she spent on it.

The thing is when adults are missing, the police take a different approach unless it was a child. People up and leave all the time, for whatever reasons, and it doesn't mean they are missing. And even if you know the person that might be missing wouldn't just up and leave their job or whatever the police is going to tell you that you can't file a missing persons report maybe from 3-7 or more days. Keep in mind that you have to stay on top of the authorities, because they got other things going on, and they won't make it a priority unless you bug the hell out of them. Another approach is to gather some people that know her and ask around the community as well as surrounding cities. Find out if there is anyone that would want to harm her in any way. Contact her parents and let them know what's going on and see if that is in her nature and if there is anywhere else she could be at... Good luck to you and I hope she turns up.
