If there were a god ( besides yourself) you would be anthropomorphisizing it by putting human traits upon it. Jokes are in the context of language and a god would be outside of language, so a god would not even be able to interact with it's creation in the first place, provided we are that creation and we use language to point to things in the world, and we do just that.

I am sure God knows when you are telling a joke or lying. I think God has a great sense of humor,he gave us the ability to laugh and to tell jokes.

Yes as God looks on the heart and the joke is done in fun but the lie is not. Yet even jokes must be done in a good way.

Proverbs says:
Proverbs 26:18, 19 As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death, So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
Joking is one thing, but joking in a way that will hurt people or make them upset is another. For example, telling a person his car is on fire is not a good idea.
Be careful when you joke ... whether it is a sin or not is secondary to whether or not you are hurting someone.

Ask God, sit silently for 20 minutes, and see what you feel the answer is.
