a police officer can't give you a ticket for a bumper sticker, If you did get one I would be surprised. The flip side of that coin is you would have a really difficult time proving that the bumper sticker and not some other reason were why you were ticketed.

What does the bumper sticker say? Don't tell me this is a hypothetical question, because I won't believe that. I have seen bumper stickers that were literally pornographic. People have been cited for such items. I have also seen bumper stickers plastered on enough of the rear window to suspect the placement violated visibility laws.

No, but I'm sure that there was a good reason for the ticket that you got. It was not because of your bumper sticker.

The first amendment does not cover lewd language. If there is cursing on your bumper sticker you may find a citation coming your way. As long as your bumper sticker has no cursing on it and it does not violate Vehicle Codes with its placement; an officer would be VERY hard pressed to cite you for it. However, if an officer sees something that he or she does not like and gives your vehicle a once over and finds something, that's on you. Just because you have the freedom of speech, does not mean you should speak.

Absolutely NOT!!!
You have 1st Amendment rights to free speech and, no matter how objectionable (or not), your bumper sticker may be, that is protected speech and - police have sworn to protect the Constitution - and your rights!
Perhaps an officer has found a different thing legitimate thing to cite you for, and is holding the bumper sticker over your head. That is also wrong; it is unethical.

They can't and won't. But if it says something like "F*ck Pigs" or something, don't be surprised if they look a little closer at you for something they *can* stop you for, like an equipment violation, and then don't expect just a warning. I don't know why people want to put inflammatory bumper stickers on cars (Like the 1-800-EAT-SH*T) bumper sticker, it's asking for trouble, such as from the cops or from a road-rager.

if you live in the usa, it is a violation of your constitutional rights should a police officer issue you a ticket that claims that your choice of bumper sticker is the cause of a vehicle or driving violation, or of any violation of the law, in fact.
it is your right to publicly state whatever you think--freedom of speech, which means freedom of thought.
cops have literally told me how much they like my bumper sticker, which says: "Question Authority."
