If a person gets a ticket for no insurance and and expired inspection sticker should they plea guilty and pay the fine or hire a lawyer. This person has never had any other drving offenses before? What shoud they do? Or could they talk to the District Attorney to put the case off so they can get all insurance and tags on the car. Can the district attorney ask to have this postpone to a later date?

go to the DA and ask for a prayer for judgement. Since you have no other offenses and a clean record, they may do this. If not, they may at least reduce your fine. If you get your car inspected and insurance on the vehicle before the court date, take it to the DA and they may drop the inspection penalty.

Don't waste your time or money on a lawyer that will do the same thing you can do.

A lawyer couldn't really do anything for this person as they'll know the person didn't have insurance at the time and their inspection sticker wasn't up to date-can't change the facts. What the person can do however, is get those things and tell the judge that they have taken these actions. Since it's the first offense and if the inspection sticker wasn't too out of date-the person could always say they had a really busy month and meant to get in there and get it fixed-then the judge will might not put it on the person's record although they will still have to pay for court fees.

First tags or insurance on the car at court time may make the judge happier, but it is not on at the tme, so can a lawyer prove you had it on the car ?? ( NO)

There is basicly nothing you can do be be found guilty or plead guilty, do have insurance and inspection at the time of court, it will help the feel

I think plead guilty and cop the fine. I mean, the person is guilty right? Why try and abuse the system just to get out of paying a penalty for doing something that the person knew should have been done but neglected? "mens rea" ~ a guilty mind.

The lawyer will just cost money.. .more than the fine.. and the stress will cost you more than that again... and the Judge will just stick it to you anyway for not taking your bitter medicine to begin with... and the District Attorney will just shrug his/her shoulders and think... "why do I have to waste my time on these every day?".

Getting a lawyer would be a waste of time and money. This person should use the money they would have spent on said lawyer to get insurance and update their inspection sticker.

I don't see what a lawyer could do. Unless you can prove the vehicle was inspected and that you had insurance, you are guilty. If you can, the judge can accept the proof without involving a lawyer.
