It's because it is a bad bet at a highstakes game. Look at it this way: Atheist doesn't believe in God or Hell. Christian believes in God and Hell *If the Atheist is right, he dies and nothing comes of it, due to no afterlife. The Christian who was wrong dies the same way, and never knows he was wrong because he no longer exists, both are on the same level. *If the Christian is right, then the Christian goes to Heaven, and the Atheist to Hell, the cost of being wrong is too high, so why even take the risk? That's why most Christians disagree with Atheists and their way of life. Because it is a way of life!

If you are meeting people who actually believe you are doing things like...well, that!...they are only feeling bad about themselves. Perhaps they feel better if they are accusing someone else of doing something worse than they are, just because they are pushing the blame onto someone else's shoulders. The last thing you should do, is start to feel that same intensity or bitterness.

Oookay. I'm a believer, and I certainly don't think that about atheists. What I like to do is get into heated debates with them. Some of them are actually somewhat competent at it. I make no assumptions about them.

Because they want you to change your mind. They are so sure they are right they can't comprehend someone not agreeing with them. It's their mission to convert you or "save" you.
They will never understand why you don't believe exactly like they do so they feel the need to do everything in their power to force you to believe what they believe.

There are degrees of disbelief. Some people live their lives not believing, others are aggressive dissenters who seem to think about God more than the religious...

Because people who are religious or do believe in G-D have made their beliefs a way of life, so they assume we do too.

They dont know anything else... unfortunately they assume that if we dont believe in g-d then we must be evil or do evil things....

Sure is unjesus like, to go around believing evil of other people, and of course religion if full of hypocracy.

I think it totally flummoxes them. They are apparently unable to understand how we can go through the day without thinking about Jesus, praying even once, or wondering about the afterlife. Unbelief is just not in their range of experience.

'cause some people just have to categorize things. And really even if a person, for example, did absolutely nothing but sit for their entire life and rot away.. it's still technically a "way of life" because it's the way they chose to live their life... So really it is your way of life.

It's because the majority of Xians believe that everyone else thinks like they do, but are only being rebellious. Therefore, Xians are focusing on God, so atheists must be focusing on the lack of.

I get this question all the time... "what does it feel like to be an atheist?" It doesn't feel like anything. Most days, religion doesn't affect me at all. I can go for weeks without ever thinking about it, it's just not something we atheists concern ourselves with.
