Flowers! Use summery, brightly colored flowers. Think bright pinks, maybe kermit mums or green orchids, purples, yellows--any bright, vibrant flowers. You could also have the girls wear colored jewelry that matches the flowers (for example if the flowers are pink, have them wear necklaces with pink in them)--that can be your gift to your bridesmaids would be to get them a great necklace to dress up your black dress.
Also, as long as you have colorful flowers, you won't look like a big black ocean!
I've been to many summer weddings with black bridesmaid gowns and black tuxedos and it looks elegant and beautiful.

I went to a wedding last July, it was outside and the bridesmaids wore black dresses. It was beautiful! If you want black, then you should have black. Since it is a summer wedding, you might want to make the dresses cocktail length and if you worried about it being too much black, have really colorful flowers. You can also have the guys vests be a color that kinda stands out. I think black is a really pretty color for a wedding, no matter what time of year it is. Good Luck!

Black for a summer wedding....now that might make it really hot. But I think a Black and White wedding is awesome. You may want to be careful that there isn't too much black. An evening wedding would be great as it will make it seem more formal and black and white weddings are considered formal. Maybe keep the girls in short dresses with short white jackets. How about having the guys wear black and white as well??? Maybe white tux jackets and black slacks. Keep the color just in the flowers and I think it will look Fantistic! Good Luck!

Black is great and your pictures will be classic versus a trendy color. Id try to do some pics outside if not too hot. You could even do a black ribbon on your bouquet to tie it all together. As a previous poster said, just do a summer style with the dresses. Plus your bridesmaids will love you if you even go with something more cocktail dress-like (although you always say you can wear it again. Also try to not pick flowers that will POP too much. Like hot pink against the black for the bridesmaids. You dont want to pull away from YOU!
Something Id suggest is go to wedding photographers websites (not florists) to look at weddings with black bridesmaid dresses, and see what flowers, poses, backgrounds you like with their photos.

I think the black is good for the groomsmen but maybe the bridesmaids should wear yellow... that sounds nice for a summer wedding. Remember, it has to be light colors. So red probably is craving too much for attention plus darker = more heat. A yellow or light orange would be good.

What about something a little more for the summer like the pretty pinks or yellow. I know you will have to consider your bridesmaids complexions, so take a day a try some dresses in brighter colors.
I know of someone that did her wedding in black and red. It was beautiful, but it was also in December.
Congrats and good luck!

Dear let me tell you, if you can still change your idea, do it, because it is way too much black, especially for the summer months. I recently saw a wedding album of my neice with an all black wedding party, and it looked horrible in the wedding photos. Get a lovely summer color, like salmon/peach or soft silvery green, wedgewood blue, cranberry/mauve, champagne/and russet. There are so many lovely summer colors. Don't make a mistake that you will have to look at for all the years of your marriage. It is not a funeral it is a wedding, a time for love and celebration. Also black is worn by female witches. If you can change your mind, do it before its too late.

it is your day and do what you want. black is very elegant and classy espeically if your wedding is at night. also you might want to consider a black, red and whtie theme. you could carry red roses and the bridesmaid carry white flowers...this would break up the black a bit. has the guys with a silver vest under their tux's and give them a white flower as well. i think it will look great. enjoy.
i'm doing black for my summer wedding as well, it is a bonus for your bridesmaids because they will probably get toe wear the dresses again.

depends on what the dress style is, the color means nothing even if it is black. Black can be a summer color all you need to do is make sure that your bridesmaids are comfortable meaning that maybe having either strapless or spegetti strapped dresses, sometimes having a just a small shawl will always keep them warm even if it's summer there could be some cool nights.

Oh gosh, it really depends.......Have you already purchased the bridesmaids dresses? If not, you should choose a different color for them. If you have, then you want some bright bouquets, and also depending on the styles of the dresses, maybe you can have a bright color sash or ribbon on the dress and maybe the same color shoes. Also, but the men in bright colored accessories, you know, the vest and tie. Bright flowers I think would make the picktures say BAM and be so beautiful!!!
