unfortunately, black is like THE hardest thing to get rid of (its right up there with red), and its a hairdressers NIGHTMARE to try to correct. normally i would say get some Paul Mitchell shampoo 2 and shampoo 3 (called the shampoo 5 cocktail), and use it like a deep conditioner (washing, leaving it in for a while, then rinsing) at least a couple times a week, but this may not work because it is black dye we're talking about. you could also try some dishwashing soap(like Palmolive or something). the Ph in that stuff is very high, it COULD remove a little of the color over a period of time (maybe a week or two).
depending on the brand of color, the porosity of your hair underneath, what color it was before you dyed it, and whether its semi-permanent or not play a big role in how quicky hair color will fade out of your hair. cheaper brands usually don't come out easily at all...in fact, over the counter color disasters are way more difficult to fix than in-salon disasters (yes, they do happen). porous hair will fade quicker, as will blonde hair (if it was blonde, or highlighted underneath).
the only thing i would suggest if your really THAT unhappy with it would be go to a salon and get it fixed. you probably wont leave there being very light, but at least it wont be black. it'll be expensive and time-consuming, but it will be lighter. if you dont want to do this, unfortunately, the only thing you can do is wait for it to fade and/or grow out.

Try buying cheap shampoo, I did it once and black for my blond hair took about a week to get to fade but not go away
Best to do is just keep shampooing and as it fades recolor a light brown but no to soon or you will purple like I did
good luck

I don't know about a shampoo or conditioner, but i know they have other dye stuff that brings your hair back to the color it was before you died it, it just takes the dye out. It might not be EXACTLY how you want it, but it will be pretty close. It is usually where the rest of the hair dye is.
Hope I Helped and Good Luck. =D

well, you could use a clarifying shampoo to help it fade a little bit. Nothing that I know of will actually take the color out.

Is it permanent colour? If so get a good hairdresser, they should be able to change it a couple shades.
