Why do a**holes keep fighting pittbulls ?????

People are very confused about matching dogs. While there are people out there just throwing two pit bulls together just to bet on them and watch them fight doesnt mean that is what it stands for. And, actually people who do match their dogs despise those that fight them as much as you do.
1) Matching APBTs (not just any type of pit bull is used but APBTs specifically) is not for money, and actually it costs more than what would be made in a match to cover the cost of care for all of the dogs.
2) Dogs very, very rarely die in the pit, but yes, it does happen.
3) Back in the day before every TD&H had pit bulls they were bred pretty much only by Dogmen (lamens terms: people who matched their dogs). In those times pit bulls were thought of as the best family dog. They were respectfully represented in many fashions, from Petey to the symbol of the USA during the World Wars. By the way, Petey had fighting bloodlines. They werent being bred in the next door neighbors back yard. They werent short, fat, stocky, big headed, people aggressive, or blue in color :-). They were (and the APBTs that are still gamebred are) tall, lanky, gracefull, proportioned, gorgeous animals, loyal and never aggressive towards people
4) Back to the money thing. Even having no money involved could stop people from matching dogs. They do not match for money but to test the level of gameness of the dogs. I, by no means, expect anyone to understand what the term "game" means when involving APBTs but, it is THE most important quality in them. Only the game dogs were bred, which meant for more stable dogs all around.

I edited this to add: Dogs arent just thrown together to fight. they are put through a conditioning phase to get the dogs in the proper shape, in other words, completely healthy. The dogs are matched by weights. A 45lb dog will be on a 45lb dog. You wouldnt see a 45lb dog and 55lb dog going against each other. The weights are set in advance of the contracted (yes, they are contracted) date and are set weights. Like the gentleman above said he has a 52lb. dog, that dog would be contracted with another 52lb. dog.
I understand why people feel the way they do about it. Its not from experience but because that is how you are told to feel. Ignorance and not understanding something will make you hate it.

oh my goodness i have so many words to say about them they are really cruel, stupid, ignorant, selfish, idiots and much more to do that. these people are making mad machines to fight that thats why they are giving a bad rap to pits. if u see automatically a pit u think omg hes going to bite me. and most likely he is because he has been trained to do that but he just could of been a sweet dog who got out of the yard but people dont see that they call cops or something and the cops see any move the dog does they shoot them. they really have no chance of life because of these morons fighting them. when u go to a shelter to go an adopt a dog do u automatically go towards these dogs (pits) . no cause u are already stereo typing it and saying it cant be a good pet. when people dont adopt animals they put them down. so either having a owner or not having a owner the chance of a pit being a normal happy dog is slim. my dogs are mixed with pit and chow and they are the sweetest dogs to my opinion that i have know. like other dogs u can never let ur guards down but i still love my dogs no matter what even though they have that pit in them. yeah they do have that instincts in them but what animal doesn't. it seems that so many people making pits aggresive and giving them a bad image then its seems like the pits will be gone forever cause all that the city does is kill them.... so we need to do something cause yes this is an important topic even though u may not think so. cause if it wasnt to me i wouldnt be writin all of this!!!!! for a GOOD future to the pits we should STOP THE PIT FIGHTING

All of you morons are WRONG. Not one of you knows a thing about dog matches on a professional level much less a street level. I saw more dead soldiers from two combat tours in a then unknown country named Vietnam than dead dogs from three decades of game APBT`s. You can flush all your myths and fantasies about dog
matches . None of you have ever been to one and never will .
It`s a real world and either get with it or get ate up.

For the same thrill they get out of 'cock' fights and such. People wager on which one will live, and betting is a big thing to a lot of people. The more blood that is spilled, the more gory the acts, the more excited the people who enjoy this 'murder' enjoy. It is sick.
