As long as any Church takes views on politics, holds Raffles and bingo, and flies any flag, or sanctions any belief in the monuments or other symbols and traditions made by man,...
Then there will never be a true separation of Church and State

Yes it should be separate. It is not the business of the State, and they have enough to do. I remember at school in England :- every morning we had "assembly and prayers" before beginning class work. There were three boys always outside the assembly hall, whom I only saw there when I was late and had to stay outside the hall until it was time to be 'dismissed'. I was surprised they were 'late' when I was, how could that be? Then I found out they were not Christians.
Well, England is so over-run now with Moslems that they will have to change.

I do, it would encourage a state that practices tolerances. In AA they refer to 'principles before personality". I think it is a similar thing on a larger scale. Puts decision making on sound information, rather than faith. Not that there is anything wrong with individuals practicing faith however they see fit, but imposing it at a national level is just ungodly.

The church should be taxed by the state, aside from that they should be completely independent of each other.

For there to be religious freedom, the state must not concern itself with any religion. If they support one, it forces it on people, and endorses it as opposed to the others. And governments have been using religion to make us fight and kill each other so they can get wealth and power for too many centuries. Talk about taking God's name in vain...

I agree with you, but since we live in a free society the state should listen to all voices including those of the Church(es).

that means that we shouldn't have a state church like England does, is all that means.
the government shouldnt promote religion.
It should recognize religion,as it does any good thing.that's a part of American culture, like how blacks have contributed, are whites ,are karate, are the arts.

Which Church? You would basically be forcing your Christian beliefs on others through education. People would have no choice but to convert or acknowledge it in order to do well in life.

Yes, as it is in France or the USA, for instance.
