I'm not sure if that's the exact spelling.. My sister was prescribed it and I'd like to know if you think it works for severe depression and also if you know how long it takes to work (days? weeks?)?? Thank you for your advice.

Remeron is used for sleeping disorders as well as for mood elevation and stabilization, i.e. depression or mood swings. It is a psychotropic medication, all of which take approximately two weeks to reach a therapeutic level in the blood.

The biggest problem with Remeron is weight gain but it does work. Hopefully the medication is being prescribed by either a psychiatrist or a doctor with some experience in the use of psychotropic medications. After two weeks if you sister does not feel the medication is working, she needs to go back to the doctor.

I take remeron, it is more of an antidepressant used to help with sleep. Although it is good to give other antidepressants a boost. It generally begins working fairly quickly, within a week.

Well it usually takes about a week to actually get results from the drug, and most drugs.
