I've been trying to lose weight and tone up. I'm already doing cardio and was wondering if I should start something like pilates or weights to help or wait until I lose more weight? I'm 5'6" and 140 lbs.

that's how tall i was and my weight last year. your BMI is 22.6, which is healthy. overweight, for your height, is 155. your good for now. if u dont like how you look though, you can lose a little more and trim off some more.

Yes. Resistance exercise (including weightlifting, pilates, power yoga, rock climbing, etc.) increases your lean mass which will burn extra calories 24 hours per day. This is why (believe it or not) resistance exercise is actually more effective than cardio alone.

However, remember to maintain good nutrition because it is more important than both types of exercise combined.

Also, use a measuring tape instead of a scale to measure your progress. It is more accurate.

Here are some links to exercise and fat loss.

P.S. One of these links is to a workout that changes weekly.

Lose weight and your thinking of doing weights? Wrong choice. Muscle weighs more than fat.
