i recently uploaded a video i made from my jvc mini dv camera and when i save it and go to edit it, the sound is all off. can someone please tell my why this is happening and what setting i should be saving my movies in so they come out properly

They should do this automatically if you are uploading via Firewire. YOu can expect drop frames and loss from USB.
