They put both parents' names on a child's birth certificate, whether they are married or not. It is proof identity, and proof of relationship. The only time the father's name is not on the certificate is if the mother does not name the father because of more than on possibility, or because she does not know.

It depends where you live/deliver. I would have never believed this but several of my friends have had babies over the last few years and in two different hospitals the birth certificates didnt have a place for the father's name at all - married or not. My friends are both married and the father's were given a seperate "certificate of paternity" to sign. My one friends husband was furious but the hospital had "phased out" father's on the certificates - sign of the times?

No they'll put both the father and mother's names on the birth certificate and then both parents will sign it. Unless the mother doesn't know who the father is then "Unknown" will be in the father's place on the birth certificate.

In todays society it is up to the mother if she wants the fathers name on the certificate. She does not have to put his name just leave the space blank. Use to they would put unknown. But now the mother can leave it blank.

that is not criminal, and to be uncomplicated it particularly is interior the youngster's ultimate activity to have the organic and organic father and mom indexed on the beginning certificates for the sake of understanding what illnesses to observe out for. to illustrate the father's area might desire to be in possibility for breast maximum cancers or sickle cellular or extreme blood tension or many different illnesses that can stick to the kinfolk line. Plus, in case you have been to ever try to use it for a joint custody declare odds are the youngster may be taken from the homestead and the the two one in each of you could desire to be doing time interior the slammer. Kinda negates some super reward of it. As for the newness of having the two father and mom on the beginning certificates, a beginning certificates isn't approximately who the father and mom are. it is so as that the government is acquainted with who have been given who knocked up.
