He may not want to rush into a relationship that serious. He may be falling in love with you and doesn't want to ruin things between the two of you.

Not a good idea to 2nd guess a situation like this....
Ask him yourself....only he knows whats goin' on in that head of his, cause a man backing off of sex.....uh....never happens with me!

you should be thankful he is trying to end it before it goes further. you should be thankful because he is not wasting your time when you can be with someone that wants to be with you. Maybe he has someone else on his mind or maybe its just not the right time. just be thankful that he had the balls to tell you rather than you catching him with someone else or treating you like crap so that you break up with him.
