You can make a sophisticated ponytail by wearing it low, wrapping a section of your hair around the elastic and securing it with a pin. You can also use a ribbon for a touch of whimsy.

Hair bands are in this season. Plain thin ones are very classic. Or you can use a scarf for a retro '60s look. You can embellish plain ones with hot glue and buttons or beads for a casual or evening look.

You can make your hair into a neat bun. For a plain but finished look, pin down strays w/ hair pins that have tortoise shell on one side. (Goody makes them.) For a dressier effect use hair pins w/ pearls or rhinestones.

For a casual look, make a messy bun or chignon.

You can braid your hair & wear the braid down. Or you can loosely braid your hair & create a bun.

BTW, you can braid your hair after shampooing and let it dry. Take out the braids and you'll have a loose wave/crimp that's perfect for a beachy, summer look.

Allure & InStyle are really good magazines for hair style ideas.

My hair is almost to my elbows, straight, and soooo blah. But I do have some tips. For a while, I was so into the whole messy bun look. Girls with long hair pull it off especially well. If you want it to look even more spur of the moment, use a pencil instead of a hairband. Also, there are lots of texturizing sprays that you can spritz in your hair and then scrunch, to create that cute messsy beach look?

If you're looking for cuts, try starting with lots of layers, and then straighten your hair. The effects can actually be pretty dramatic. Or do like I did, and get blunt, straight across bangs. They're very In, and they look amazing with long straight hair. Good luck!

U were your long-ish hair crimped. Their is a simple way to do it without using any heat products. The night before, braid ur hair into tight single braids, spray hairspray on them and make sure u put somethin over them to hold them while u sleep. Then in the morning, take out the braids, and then spray them with a little bit of spritz or holding spray and u have crimps. U could also try getting ur hair curled with a curling iron and then wearing it in a high pony tail. Then maybe u could try twisting ur hair into a bun in the back. But if ur not sure on the styles I told u about, try any magazine like Seventeen. They offer great hair tips. Have fun

put it in pony tails ear length, make a knot and put another hair ribbon to keep it together, and then flip it under between your head and the knot. and you have a cool, new, and easy, look. hope this helps.
