If you have the willpower not to hump anyone else and spend a lot of time on YIM. Go for it. I dated my fiance long distance for 1 year befor getting engaged. Best chance I EVER took.

How well do you know him? Your families may be close, but how well do you actually know HIM? You could talk to your parents or his parents and ask how he's doing, what's new or if he's been seeing anyone. Kinda put out the feelers for if he is the kind of guy you truly want to get together with. If he is, then, yeah, why not? Afterall, if he is not into you, then 4 times a year isn't a big deal to have to run into him if things get awkward. By then, you'd laugh it off and be friends again, with no problems. You've got nothing to lose. Good luck!

I am not a teen, but if it is alright, i would like to tell you to go ahead and tell him that you care a lot for him. after knowing him that long, you sound like you really know him and love him. life is too short to waste time, and maybe he feels the same way you do.
sure hope you are not a "young" teen, or this advice would not apply.

My girl lived 2 hours away from me and she told me she liked me. That was over a year ago, we're gonna get married. You never know what you're missing out on, you better tell him!

if you ask him do you think it would effect your friendship? if it wouldnt then just ask him. but if your afraid it will then find another way. ask one of his close friends if he likes you, or you can just tell by the way acts around you. does he look into your eyes? does he tease you a lot, when he see's you does he have a certain smile and look in his eyes that tells you "im so happy to see you"

i think you should maybe wait a couple weeks or so and then decide if you guys DO go out after you break up...would you guys still be best friends...that's the only bad part or you can just tell him and see how he feels...best of luck!!

Why not tell him? Go for it? If your families are such good friends, and you are super-shy, you could always pass it on to mom that you like him, and let his mom feel his response out and see where it goes.

Well, think about it like this: If you keep your feelings inside, then you definitely won't get him! I think you should definitely say something, because if he likes you back then it would be the day you two got together! <3

I would talk to him and tell him how you really feel. It's hard, but you'll feel better if it's out in the open with him.
