You need to install codecs ... try instally k-lite codec ... this should make those video clips work in windows media player itself ... or try VLC player ... it supports huge range of video file formats which most of the other players don't support without codecs !

For starter, you may need to decompress your files with unrar.

smallville.0617.hr-yestv.r16 = smallville (TV show) 0617 (mean season 6 episode 17) hr = high resolution (yestv = the source ) r16 = probably mean that is compress with rar.

Download unrar at ( http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm )
Install unrar then click on the file to decompress it.

for mac http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/winrar-free-mac.html

Then, you should use the best free media player to watch the video clips: VLC ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) (mac an pc version)

1. Install VLC
2. Choose the video clip you want to play, right click and choose open with VLC media player.

Quicktime player can't play all video.

What kind of format is it in? Quicktime doesn't play everything. Besides that there are lots and lots of different codecs which are not installed by default in many players (i.e. Windows Media Player or Apple Quicktime)..

Download VLC Mediaplayer from download.com for free and try that application. It plays just about everything.
