It might, however, it is worse for your system because of all of the artificial sugars such as:

Aspartame
Splenda
Asculfame

and so on and so forth. It might reduce weight, but it increases brain tissue loss and other issues with artificial sweeteners. There was an experiment where they gave aspartame to rats and it turns out that they got holes in their brains from it. I wouldn't recommend it. It just isn't worth it.

Your body does not process calories from liquids the same way as it does from food meaning it doesn't send "full" signals even when you are getting calories from the liquids.

An extra forty calories a day leads to on average a 4-pound weight gain a year.

If you are drinking even one soda a day (12 oz) and are exceeding the calories you are burning in your total intake, then you will probably gain instead of losing.

Yes it would if everything else is the same particularily if you drink a lot of pop. If you happened to eat more to make up for the extra calories in the regular pop then it might not have much effect.

Yes, Joe... but water is better, because the sweet taste still makes you crave for more food like the regular soda.
