I practice every day for an hour. I cant spare anymore time. ive been practicing for almost 2 months now and I have gotten no where. I ask my friends who play guitar to help and teach me something but they find it hard to believe that I have been practicing everyday and have gotten no where so they dont help me. Truthfully I cant play a single thing decently at all. I try to but I cant play it. I know it takes time but I should have learned something by now or have learned to play something. Do not refer me to guitar training websites or anything like that because that doesnt help me because I have tried it.

Maybe your approach is wrong. And it totally depends on the style of music you want to play. Don't worry about the whole "not learning" deal. I went through exactly what you're going through when i first started playing.

Six months ago, I first picked up a guitar. I practiced for about an hour a day. Now, six months later, I can play a variety of music and genres from the smooth sounds of country and country rock, like some Sheryl Crow and Lynyrd Skynyrd, to the faster harder sounds of alternative rock and metal, like 3 Doors Down and Avenged Sevenfold. Im not saying this to brag or discourage you, but to encourage you in showing that if i can learn it, u can too.

If you wanna try the way i learned it...

1. Start with an acoustic guitar. The strings are larger and it develops callus on ur fingers faster... hence less pain when you practice. You also learn to regulate the pressure you apply to the strings to develop different sounds.

2. Learn chords first. Learning the chords first will help you with increasing your finger dexterity and will help with your finger speed and accuracy. You can find the finger positions for chords online. Just search "guitar chord chart"

3. Learn to strum. Strumming develops your forearm and wrist muscles and helps them develop rhythm. This might take a while, but it's good to get out of the way.

4. Look up chords for familiar songs and try to play them. Playing familiar songs, although they may not technically be played in chords, will help u learn better because of the familiarity of the song. Pick something simple and something you like. A good website for finding chords for songs is www.911tabs.com.

5. AFTER learning your chords, branch out into learning power chords, scales, or plucking. From here, you can experiment with different types of guitars such as stratocasters or LesPauls, and different types of effects such as overdrive and distortion.

6. DON'T GIVE UP!!!

2 months is not that long. It takes a long time and alot of practice to learn to play. Don't give up. I have been playing for 20 years and there is still so much to learn. I would suggest getting a scale book and learn some scales it will help and you will feel like you have learned something and it will sound great. Have you tried tablature?

um is it that you have no rhythm? I don't know I have never heard you play. Are you strumming, picking or what? Chords are easy enough but if you have no rhythm than it is worthless. How are you at dancing, singing, keeping a beat when music is playing. If you are no good at that then it is because you have no rhythm and it is hard to teach that. Good luck

you suck because you have not practiced at being awesome. you should practice at being awesome at guitar instead of practicing at sucking on guitar.
