hi i would like to kno if any1 has taken neurontin for bipolar or anxiety.if you did please say for what did/do you take it for and if it helped.
also what swide effects did you have, and if you combine with any other psyche meds.

My mother took Neurontin for relief from fibromyaglia and r. arthritis and it gave her severe seizures, several per day. It was horrible !!!

I took Neurontin 600mg three times per day in conjunction with:
Zoloft 200mg
Klonopin 2mg
Ativan
and countless other medications (rotating on and off of several anti-anxiety, ADHD, anti-depressant, and sleeping meds).
I took the Neurontin for anxiety, but it didn't do much. I had no effects - neither positive nor negative, except for a lessened occurance of panic attacks, even then only slightly. I have had little luck with everything from Klonopin to Concerta to Ativan to Wellbutrin to Tylenol 3 to Motrin. Everybody has different brain chemistry.
The bottom line is that it's going to effect each person differently.

I take it with lexapro for bipolar disorder. I haven't had any side effects. However you want to be very careful taking it alone for bipolar disorder. There is actually a lawsuit pending due to suicide and suicide attempts by people who have taken it alone for bipolar. It is an anticonvulsant (for epilepsy etc) which works as a mood stabilizer in people with bipolar. However it has caused severe depression when taken alone.

I took neurontin for anxiety/anger. My dad takes it for Bipolar - it worked/works great on both of us. my dad is like a whole new person - in a good way...

I've been taking it along with trazodone and paxil for about 18 months. I feel better than I have in many years. I was on several other combos of meds and this one works.

I took it for anxiety and it made me feel suicidal. I wasn't myself at all. My psychiatrist said that it was a rare side effect though. Everyone is affected by medication differently.
