Recently I have been pricing some vinyl antistatic mats, and I was a little shocked (no pun intended) about how much these mats cost. Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative to these vinyl antistatic mats? Thanks.

I already have a wrist strap. I just want a large worksurface to build and test circuits on for my lab at home.

I've seen anti-static wrist straps with a wire that clips to a metal object to ground the person wearing them. Without a better idea of your application, I don't know if they would work.

Being in the Electronic field it is best to spend a little money now instead of later. electromagnetic and static fields destroyes ckt.boards. If you don't use the antistatic mats it will make your job harder on troubleshooting because you are adding to the problem. It depends on how much you work on electronics.that is the ?
