I ask this because in Quran, there is an entire chapter named after Mary.
The chapter describes lots of details about her so that she can be a model for all women! am not sure if thats the only reason though

Christians believe in the existence of Mary because she is talked about extensively in the New Testament. They also hold to the doctrines of the Virgin Birth and the Deity of Jesus Christ. Muslims believe in Mary (minus the virgin birth and most importantly the diety of Christ) because Islam does accept the Bible to a certain extent, but not as "inerrant". In fact, Muslims generally scoff at the notion of God being born as a man. Jews may or may not deny the existence of Mary as a person, but all agree that Mary did not give birth to the Messiah that was prophecied in the Old Testament (check out the book of Isaiah) for whom they are waiting.

The Jewish religion doesnt accept anything of the New Testament. If they did they would have to accept the coming of the Messiah (Christ ) which they dont unless they are Messianic Jews. The Jewish bible is waht Christians call the Old Testament - being the ( Books of the) Law and the ( Books of the) Prophets.

Jews don't necessarily believe that Jesus was The Christ or Messiah. So they don't believe that Mary was anything more than a the mother of a crazy man claiming to be God's Son.

Sorry, but Christians don't generally believe in Mary.
I believe in Jesus and that he died for me on the cross... and I believe that Mary was his mother... I think what you should ask is why do Jews not worship Mary...
I don't think anyone should believe in her because she is just like you and me... and her purpose was to bear God's son. Just as God has a purpose for everyone that follows him. No where in the Bible does it tell us to worship or pray to Mary..

I don't know how Muslims feel about Mary.

Since Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah, and do not accept the New Testament, it probably doesn't matter too much to them who Jesus' mother was. They understand that Mary is claimed to be the mother of Jesus, but otherwise, it probably doesn't concern them, because they don't view Jesus as the Messiah. They would see Jesus as just one teacher among many who were active during that historical time period.

Keep in mind the Jewish people were before Christians. The Jewish people dont believe in Mary because they dont believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the messiah. Simple if there has been no messiah how can there be the mother of the messiah??

Mary was the earthly Mother of Christ. To Jews, Christ is not the messiah. He was a prophet. Therefore, Mary would have had nothing to do with the whole business and the virgin birth etc. would not have been believed by the Jews.

because when Jews translated the text- it came out that 'virgin' was really 'young woman'. So, the whole concept of a virgin birth was due to a poor translation. it was never intended to be this way, but after 2000 years, you can't really change what people believe.

Dear Servant,

Christians do not believe in Mary. They believe that she was the "earthly mother" of Christ- and this was something that God chose her for- not anything supernatural or special about her that merits her to be worshipped. Catholics do worship Mary (ie: Hail Marys, they pray to Marry) but this is not biblical.

Muslims believe in Muhammad.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster
