Many people say that all morals would be lost without religion. But look what religion can be used for: war, bigotry, hatred, discrimination, etc.
I think we would all be better off without religion. We, as intelligion human beings, do not need a system of beliefs telling us what to do. We, as self-thinkers should, do what we think is right; all humans have morality already built into them. For example, a person who kills another would feel guilty.

For people like me, nope. I could say the same about a God as well. For some reason, many people act like it's impossible to have morals without a God. Human beings are not so brainless that they can't figure out what harms society without being told through some "higher power". Humans can't figure out on their own that stealing would lead to a society that possibly couldn't function? We need to be told that through a God as if we were too dumb to see that?

We do not. The claims of religion to be repositories of moral standards are groundless. Moral codes derive from evolution, which applies to societies as well as to species: a society which conforms to an appropriate moral code will survive preferably to one that does not. Religions tend to adopt moral codes which have already proven themselves through evolutionary success.

I think it's more about having a relationship with God. Not being in a religion.
Unfortunately, not everyone has morals. Praying helps.

well actually guilt is not a normal animal instict. had morals not been instilled in us as children we would not know it was wrong therefor no guilt. we would kill mainly on instict. deformitys on babys, defense, food, ect. (jelosy and envy are also mainly learned trates) i do agree with you that religion has been the center of alot of historical conflict. i say all of the following as a christian myself. MOst christians are blind and almost cult like in the followings of their belifes. I feel that people for the most part are stupid dependant on a solid figure to guide them, not god, but the pope their paster ect. someone they can touch and feel. they disguise it as faith in god. But really all they are is a flock of sheep following blindly some golden calf. i see it as mini or large hitlers. People just followed him couse in masses people are oh soo stupid and nieve. like most german the religouse masses were very unaware of what is going on in the global scale. not that excuses it. but any way after all this i have my own very strong belife in a higher power, god, i just disagree with organized religion i think some where along the road we lost the point of it all and now it is a bunch of crap. as for me i need my faith to help me get through the hard times and the good. i feel it is better to believe and worship something that could ne a figment of my imagination as long as it is not hurting me or others and makes me feel good, than to not believe have no crutch and it be real and i am punished for it. hope i help to each his own:)

Some do, but not for morality. Some people just can't live life knowing the only purpose we have is the one we make for ourselves.

A living relationship with the God who created you is what you need!
For I know the plans I have for you says God
Plans for good and not for evil
Plans to give you a future and a hope.

If humans are so bad off naturally, religion can only help...even if just a little.
And that's a good thing.

Mass murderers could have their moral system?
Thieves could have their right and wrong?
Liars would be fine (they would think so)?
Judges could make any ruling they like?
Contracts would be invalid (don't think they need to follow it)?
Think.
