Um, nothing. You're dead.

If you get referred for suicidal thoughts, however, there is a strong push to help you get things back on track and return you to duty.

Could you possibly have to change assignments? Yes. The odds of a suicidal guy going back to a nuke job are slim. The odds are probably low of him going back to a job requiring frequent carry of weapons.

Here's what the important part is. Being a civilian isn't all that bad. Hell, you were born one. The object of the game is to live through your military career long enough to become one again.

Get the help you (or your friend or whoever) need. Better a live civilian than a dead servicemember.

Who am I to say this? Oh, nobody in particular. Unless you count that I self-referred for suicidal ideations/mental health reasons as an active duty master sergeant, got help, got Zoloft, and was then assigned to a highly responsible position and got the Meritorious Service Medal when I retired.

Didn't do my career any harm, did it?

Get the help. Let the remaining chips fall where they will.

I'm in the Navy and forward deployed on a chip in Japan. Because of this, my television time is consumed by military commercials....mainly suicide prevention. The Navy does not want anyone to die. They do everything they can to help you. I've know a few guys...one guys always complained and tried to "kill himself" in the most asinine ways. He took a spatula and started sawing at his wrists. He wasnt trying to commit suicide. He was just calling for help. There was another sailor who did do the deed and hung himself in the space right next to my shop. He never said a word. Nobody knew.

If you get called out becasue something thinks you're suicidal, then it's obvious that people want to help you and that they are concerned. You will talk to a chaplain or a doctor. They will do everything in their power to help you.

Your military career would be pretty much over. They start out by putting you on suicide watch. Then, they have you go to all these psychologists to make sure you're really crazy and not just playing crazy. If the military psychologist thinks you're really mentally unstable, they will give you a general discharge.....good luck!

Suicide grew to become into decriminalised some years in the past. you would be able to desire to purely be charged with an offence in case you placed somebody else in threat for the period of a failed attempt. i'm of direction going to ask you to communicate on your friends, family contributors, your GP or maybe the police approximately this. The police would sound slightly bizarre, yet certainly they have stable contacts, and direct get entry to to well-being amenities which could refer to you approximately your thoughts. i understand... because of the fact i've got performed it. It truly does help.

You would be sent to the nearest naval hospital and once you were stable, you would be transfered to limited duty and off of your ship, if on one. You would recieve counseling and medication. After 6 months you would be re-evaluated and either put back on limited duty for another six months, reinstated to full duty or medically discharged from the Navy.

You mean attempting suicide or threatening suicide, right? Because being turned in for suicide wouldn't affect their career since they are already dead.
