Yes, and is great for worms too.
1 clove once a month, raw, whole . Give it to your dog like you were giving him a pill. You can also sprinkle garlic powder on food, but you must also use the fresh.
I have used it for over 30 years, and my father did for 20 before me. I have never had any problems and would rather use then a chemical-my vet also agrees with me, he said is better then chemicals. Just looses him $ and most people wouldn't believe it or do it if he told them.

Ok, I don't know if some dogs react to garlic but I give my dog garlic in his food all the time and so do many other people. I cook homemade food for Timber and find that garlic will settle his stomach. I am not suggesting an entire cluster of cloves but one or two hasn't hurt my dog in anyway.
As a flea repellent I can't vouch for it's reliablity. If you are looking for a natural method of flea control you can use diamateous earth by rubbing it into the coat and sprinkling it in the carpets, garden etc...
Otherwise use a prescription medication or talk to your vet about the options available.
You could consider a chrysanthemum powder with natural pyrethrins. You should research this option before using it because of the dangers that people have reported. If you use it only use the naturally occuring form as the other are extremely dangerous to you, your dog and your enviroment.

my mom swears by it.... she sprinkles garlic powder and brewers (nutritional)yeast on her dogs food twice daily and no fleas but she lives in Oregon and still gets the ticks...as she is a Hippy mom she wont do the pesticides.... I use Frontline (not the plus) and I have NEVER had any issues...smile
"Although toxic side effects from consumption of garlic are rare in animals and humans alike, the possibility of harming your dog,
cat, or herbivore with garlic does exist, and there is growing controversy about how much garlic is enough and how much is too
much. ---------- When misused (used excessively or over an extended period), garlic may cause Heinz-body anemia, a potentially
life-threatening blood disease."
It also states that animals with pre-existing anemic conditions should not receive garlic internally - I'd have to type out a pretty
long section of the book to explain, but it has to do with a decrease in red blood cells. You'd have to give larger amounts
though for that to occur - the more garlic you feed the more you increase the chances of Heinz body anemia. To give an example with onions, which are in the same family - a 60 lb. dog would have to ingest about a 5 ounce onion or several cloves of garlic for this to occur.

ALSO READ THIS ARTICLE ABOUT GARLIC....ITS A LITTLE SCARY....HMMMM....
It says its like feeding small amounts of arsinic to your dog and (sometimes...)eventually it will kill the dog...but I think that its gotta take a whole lot of garlic to kill a dog... just from experience I have NEVER seen a dog diagnosed with death by garlic.....smile so you are the one who has to make that judgement call....

garlic is an old wives tale! it does'nt work (there is no evidence supporting garlic as a flea control)
IT IS NOT TOXIC!!!!contrary to popular response here. However they are correct that Fronline and/or Advantage works great! don't forget to treat the environment...the dog bed,the yard, the house etc. Although the above products work,The don't REPELL the fleas from jumping on so you may be fighting a losing battle if you dont treat your house in conjunction with you pet(s)
Hands down the best control is a pill called 'CAPSTAR' it's amazing!!!, you give the pill and 15-30 minutes later you literally SEE all the fleas fall off DEAD before your eyes,it is so safe that it is actually labelled to be given daily. who's got the time and money? at $5 a pill! so good luck!

To be honest no. But I have for years used Brewers Yeast. This is a very old remedy, and is fairly cheap, you can ask any vet or go to your local Petsmart. A lot of the dog foods now day actually contain some, but it's best to buy it yourself and sprinkle over the dogs food. Breath is much better too!

Garlic is toxic to dogs and cats. DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Yes, some people have done it and some people have had their pets die from it.
"Garlic, Onions, and Powders: Whether fresh, cooked or powdered, garlic and/or onions can be found among the ingredients of many prepared meals, including baby food. Garlic and onions are toxic to cats and dogs because sulfoxides and disulfides found in them can damage red blood cells and lead to anemia. Onions are more problematic than garlic, but both should be avoided. If preparing a meal for yourself that will contain garlic or onions, consider preparing a side portion without these ingredients for your animals." http://www.wisegeek.com/which-foods-are-toxic-to-cats-and-dogs.htm

It doesn't actually work. Frontline and the others can kill your dog and have killed dogs, I won't use them. Try the stuff from this site.

I've heard good about all their products.
