I have a german shepard dog that has ear mites that will not clear up. I have this problem every year with him. I am looking for a good medicine to clear it up.

I clean my dogs ears every other day, and I use a home-made cleaner which is: 1 part vinigar to 9 parts of water.

It is cheeper and should help a bit.
good luck

If it's yeast he may have a food allergy. Switch him to a non allergic formula like Trout and Sweet Potato (Fish and Chips) at http://www.frrco.com/121668

To clear up a yeast infection, and to keep them at bay, try Tea Tree Oil. You can get it in the supplement section at Walmart. Just put a few drops in each ear, and also on a cotton ball. Take the cotton ball and wipe down the ear flap and clean the ear close to the surface.

If it is a food allergy, this will may not clear up until he is on the new food for a couple of months.

If it is ear mites...that is a totally different thing. This requires a medicated treatment from the vet for best results. Severe cases may require multiple treatments.

Hope this helps!

I had a White German Shepard that died last year believe it of not she was 18 years old in her older years she had ear infections constantly I would get the vet to come out he gave
her Alocetic ear rinse along with otomax Do you actually see ear mites? When the infection would first start I would use peroxide warmed up a little it seemed to help. My Rottweiler has since developed the same problem because he is so big
and hard to treat the vet put him to sleep and did a deep ear cleaning. I have had no problems since It only cost 150.00 and included all his shots he needed.

are you sure that the dog has EAR MITES!? and not a yeast or bacterial infection? each diagnosis requires a different treatment.. you should have an 'ear cytology' done(at your vet) to rule out and diagnose EXACTLY what the issue is. If your dog DOES have ear mites ONLY, they are contagious to other dogs and cats!
Unfortunately, ear cleaner has no medicine in it, so you need a medication to use with a cleaner.Go to the vet and get your medications. over the counter stuff is garbage, imagine if u had an ear ache 24/7 and you could'nt tell someone how uncomfortable you were!

are you sure it is ear mites??? maybe it is an yeast infection, and since you have a shepherd it is QUITE possible that it is allergy related... go to the vet... they will give you the appropriate meds..... i go thru this with my golden - he has never had mites
