You shouldn't miss any but due to uncontrollable circumstances you are allowed to miss three they call you everyday for the first month and a half then they stop and they send your file over to like some claims people who will call you then on the third month they send the repo truck but if you call them and ask for an extension they can add your late payment onto your final payment most auto places will really work with you they want their money so they will try not to take the car they will try to help for as long as they can.

they usually start sending you late notices , final payment due , etc , and then a warning about repossessing the vehicle.

Repossession is often something they dont really want to do.

You are best sending a partial payement , or contacting the finance company if you know you cant pay the bill .

I would expect a repo if you are more than 6 payments late, it depends on the company. If you dont reply to letters and attempt to sort something out , expect an early repo. They wont want to take the chance on it disappearing .

What many times accelerates the repo technique is whilst they might't arise with you to work out what is going on.
