Sickness and stress can show up in your period very easily. If you are over 35, this can be especially true. If the irregularities continue past your current illness, then it could be sign of peri-menopause, or maybe an early sign of menopause... Many women begin having irregular periods years before other signs of menopause appear. You may or may not be ovulating during some of these so birth control is still needed.
You imply that there is a significant of blood this time. If you were newly pregnant, some spotting could certainly happen, but not usually a heavy amount of blood. BUT, those signs could also be a sign of a spontaneous abortion (very slight possibility, but there) of a newly implanted embryo.
Best to give a call to your OB/Gyn and describe the situation. If you don't have insurance, call your county Health Dept for possible resources. United way First Call for Help can give you free clinics in your area (call 2-1-1 in most states).
Best wishes,

Stress will do crazy things to your period. It can even stop it completely although temporarily. Start eating organic plain yogurts with as many different kinds of good bacteria as possible. For your sinus infections make a tea using Thyme( the cooking herb). For one cup use 2-3 tablespoons of dried thyme wrapped in cheesecloth(i use a coffee filter and a bag tie) to make a tea bag. Boil distilled water, pour it over the tea bag . Cover it , and let it sit for 5 minutes. Drink this 3 to 4 times a day until your symptoms are gone completely. Also use it as a gargle for sore throats. This will work. Thyme is naturally antibacterial.

Probably from the stress or the sickness. It's nothing to worry about. Periods are weird. Change in weight could also affect your cycle.

Could be a fluctuation in your hormone levels from stress, diet, environmental changes, pregnancy, child birth, etc.
Sounds like a good change to me. But, if it is something you don't like you can try to level out your hormones with Bcomplex vitamins and Evening Primrose Oil supplements.
