I wanted to have fruits instead of candy bars as snacks. Therefore I thought that eating fruits would save me from starving all day. However, it has been just the opposite. Even after a meal, fruit seems to bring back the hunger. Just in case you need to know: I'm 5'7" 160lbs. (I'm a biology major, so a basic explanation OR a molecular/physiological explanation will be appreciated.)

It could be the sugar. Even though it's natural sugar, it can affect insulin the same way a lollipop would. It's a little surprising, though, because after eating a meal, the sugar shouldn't be absorbed quickly. If I have an apple on an empty stomach, it does makes me hungry.

Do you drink milk or eat yogurt? Either of those can give your energy a boost between meals. A piece of cheese is effective, too.

Fruits are high in sugar, so they cause a spike in blood sugar then a crash, which leaves you feeling hungry. Avoid citrus fruits and pineapple, as they are highest in sugar.

Instead, eat an apple and a handful of almonds or a piece of string cheese. The added protein will help you metabolize the sugar and keep from "crashing."

Have you had your blood sugars checked? Some fruits can affect blood sugar levels and blood sugar level and hunger are closely related. Just a suggestion.
