I know where he is coming from, but I would say his comments were uncalled for.
Where I work, my employees sometimes do the same thing. They stand in the doorway of my office without saying anything. I personally get annoyed by that. I would prefer that if someone wants to talk to me they should give a quick knock on the door and ask if they can come in, or ask if I have a minute to talk.
It sounds like your principal is either really uptight or he was having a bad day. Either way, I think what he said would be considered rude. It sounds like you were only trying to be polite.

Someone should give him a dictionary, standing around waiting for someone to finish what they were doing doesn't come near to stalking. But next time knock, I know you're trying to be polite and the principal should've just said something like 'come in' even if you hadn't knocked yet, but if for some crazy reason he can't manage that then humor him and knock even when he is busy... he's the principal, sometimes you'll have to put up with strange stuff from bosses and other superiors.

Stalking-- is a legal term for repeated harassment or other forms of invasion of a person's privacy in a manner that causes fear to its target. Statutes vary between jurisdiction but may include such acts as:
repeated physical following;
unwanted contact (by letter or other means of communication);
observing a person's actions closely for an extended period of time; or
contacting family members, friends, or associates of a target inappropriately
cyberstalking
**an extended period of time would cover time frames of hours to days to weeks etc. i dont think a matter of minutes is considered an extended period of time.
were you avidly staring at him...how close were you to him...no this isn't stalking, and no you weren't being rude. If he called you to his office and then forgot then that's on him. As the principal of a school, he should be able to remember appointments he has with people and if he cant then should leave himself notes or such. If he had an issue with someone seeing him typing or working, he should've closed his door. An open door and an invitation or request for a meeting at a certain time would imply that said person left the door open to invite his appointment in.
Maybe next time you should just knock on the door no matter what he is doing as he obviously has issues and forget about being rude. Sounds like he's the kind of person you wouldn't be able to win with either way you did it.

Um... okay... he sounds paranoid. He must have been doing something "bad" or else he's just a little loony that day. The worst part of this whole thing is that from now on he's going to be watching you extra-careful, probably.
But I think you did the polite thing and he was rude. I mean, he's the one who called you into his office in the first place, right?

He's definitely a weirdo. As a parent of a teenager in high school, I think you should tell your parents. One of them may want to email him. He thinks he can get away with talking to you like that because of your age. No way. He needs to know his actions have consequences.
I personally think he was doing something on the computer that he shouldn't have been doing. He was afraid you caught him so he freaked.
How come so many adults that work in schools don't know how to treat kids and teenagers with respect? It really bothers me. I know there are a lot of cool teachers out there but some need to change professions.
Good luck.

he sounds rude to me...and truly there is no excuse for that. he is in a position to be a role model for students all day, everyday.
but if i were you, the next time i got called to the office i would check in with a secretary and ask them to let the principal know you are waiting to see him and have a seat and wait for him to come to you.

YES...your principal is not normal. Most people invite students to come in before they finish typing instead of making them stand out in the hallway.

He's a weirdo. Maybe your folks should call the school superintendent and report this guy? At least ask for an apology.
If you were there ONE TIME, and there because he told you to be there, you certainly can't be considered to be stalking him!
Maybe he was looking at porno or something on his computer?
