I use a little less water and compensate the water with a little extra oil, they come out chewy and moist everytime.

Make sure your oven temperature is correct by using an oven thermometer and bake them in the lower-third of the oven.

Homemade are just as easy and you'll be infinitely happier with the results

Best 8x8 Brownies

Ingredients
1 stick unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
2 whole eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon instant espresso powder
1 cup chocolate chips

Method
Preheat oven to 350°

Grease and flour an 8 x 8 inch pan.

In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, baking powder and espresso powder. Fold in the chocolate chips. Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overbake. Remove from oven to a wire rack to cool before cutting into desired sizes.

check your oven temp. Make sure you do not overcook. Follow the directions to the letter. If they are still not chewy change brands or make homemade.

Add less water. The less water you add the chewier they'll be. Don't take them out early though.
