I keep reading replies here and on other forums instructing people to 'Google' things. 'Google' is a noun. What these people actually mean is 'Search on Google' or something to that effect.

you are right. but at the same time you answered your own question. it doesnt kill nobody if we just make it shorter by saying google this or google that. who knows.. we might even make it into a verb officially haha jks. well, yeah um...thanks for the two points i guess..?

Google's been a verb since the stock exceeded 200 bucks or more seriously, 2002. It's even a verb in German.
