I mean, when our knowledge was much less than what it is now, it was so much easier to believe in Gods and an after life and all that religious stuff. Now though, in order to maintain faith, a certain level of denial and a limited exposure to knowledge that can weaken faith is necessary. Religion for most people is just a token effort, you know, it's just there for funerals and of course the religious holidays are good, but nobody really takes it that seriously anymore except for the Muslims. It seems as though as the rest of the worlds religions are fading, Muslim fanaticism is rising. Why?

You must be kidding that "religion for most people is just a token effort." Have you read the Religion section of Y!A lately? People are fanatic when it comes to this topic. They will ridicule, curse, belittle, and even type in ALL CAPS.

Catholics, Christians, Jews, Hindu's, Sikhs, Jehovah witnesses and Mormons all take there religions seriously so why not ask them also? Could it be you are just prejudiced against Muslims perhaps? If religion is a token effort for "most people" that is totally there prerogative and does not bother me in any way. Why should my faith bother you in any way? Am i asking you to believe what i believe? Am i asking you to join the faith? Am i telling you or anyone else you are wrong and i am right? No. Then why is what i do in the privacy of my own home your business? I'll take it as seriously as God tells me too if you dont mind. If you want to ignore all Gods revelations and guidance for faith go ahead who is asking you to stop? Not Muslims that's for sure. If religion for you is an excuse to party and get drunk around the holiday season that's your prerogative. If religion for me is a way of life that's my prerogative. I'm sure other faiths would differ that they are fading. If people are coming to Islam and Islam is getting stronger then so be it, why is it your business what others do. I am sure not in the slightest interested in what you are doing.
P.S. There is no "limited exposure to knowledge" on my part or my husbands as a political journalist we have all the "exposure" to knowledge we want. How very condescending of you.

I'm not a Muslim, but I think your think is very presumptuous and egotistical. Say you have 1/100000000th of the knowledge in the world stored in your brain (and you probably have less), isn't it possible that in all the rest of the knowledge you don't have, there may be something that points to God/faith/afterlife? There are many intelligent religious people in this world and many intelligent people who convert. I think in order to remain completely atheist, a level of denial and a limited exposure to the other side that can weaken skepticism is necessary. Have you ever sat down and read a book about evidence for faith? A quick and easy, but intelligent read is "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. As a convert, when I looked for the evidence, it was definitely there if you choose to look outside your own box where only what you see is real.
Also, there are many Christians in the science world. Science and Christianity aren't really at odds and if you researched it, you would know that. There is the evolution debate, but even that is...well...debatable. But even if Darwin was right, it doesn't prove all religion wrong.

It's rising bc of fear, I think.

You are wrong. I'm a christian and believe just what the bible tells me. I see it happening in the world all around me, every day something new happens and proves it right.

Weakening faith is necessary? You are right, it is. We must weaken our faith in MAN's ability to solve all the questions asked and to save himself from judgement. Less faith in man is required so that the Lord's will can shine.

The bible told us to study the earth and explore it, and we have and still are doing that. Doing what God told us has taught us a lot of things about where we live, but that's all it's taught us. We think we know how a disease acts, or how a volcano erupts, or what causes gravity to do what it does. When we are wrong we just say "Oops, we were wrong, this is what REALLY happens." and think we are just so smart until that is proven wrong too by someone else. We think we know so much until a disaster strikes and we relize just how small we really are, then people point fingers on who to blame for it. Any other time man has magnified himself to God status....just like Satan wanted to do.

No religions are fading, you just don't hear about them as much. The church I belong to is growing every week, and I mean EVERY week. You only hear about muslims now because of the ones who are commiting suicide bombings and such, if they were all like that you wouldnt have half of Europe standing. Those few who are acting that way are the same for any other religion with fanatics in it. Once again, you are pointing fingers.

The bible speaks of all these things happening, you need only see it and relize it for what it is.

Its not the fault of muslims that they care so much about their religion. "It seems as though as the rest of the worlds religions are fading..." yes, just because other peoples religions seem to do nothing in their lives it dosent mean that muslims have to follow that precedent. "...Muslim fanaticism is rising..." because they dont want to get caught in the material world that people have created.

I mean its like you said, for some people, their religion is just for "funerals and of course the religious holidays are good..." But for muslims its something more. Its what they live for.

Every religion where a man belongs must be taken seriously. The only needed thing is that religion should not be followed blindly. It is never a token effort and it is not for ministerial services thing only. It should be one's guide to live decently and morally right. It should not be used for other purposes but to let people stand for their right to live in the country sharing equal opportunity and equal rights. What it should not do is to influence people from diectly meddling into governments affair and they should pay taxes.

Every religion has there own beliefs and rules. Islam asks us Muslims to do acts of goodness and maintain our faithfullness to God.

Since we never know when we are going to die, we must always be religious for the sake of Allah.

You can't just pinpoint Muslims since Christians and Jews are like that too.

So what if religion is important for Muslims, Chrisitians, or Jews, or whatever religion a person follows? It is their life, let them be. In the end, believe me, it is going to be the religion that is going to save us.

Its very simple reasoning why compared to the others, you find only Muslims taking their faith seriously. The rest of them want an easy way out in life. They do not wish to be confined with the idealogies of their faith because that would mean restraining themselves from a lot of worldly things. To them, Faith and remembrance of God only comes during one's downturn in life. Whereas in Islam, we are taught to pray 5 times daily and remember God day in and day out, during good times and bad times. Islam is the only faith which brings Man and God togather, day to day. We are talking about orthodox Muslims here and not fanatics.
