because you either compromised
or the man you want are married ( let me guess, tall, young, well educated, secure finacially, no children, never been married, white, good looking...)
or you do not set you filters ( that is what you do not want in a man ) and thus overlok what would normally be a deal breaker dating wise so you accept what is out there. but as someone else said .. what are you to the men that you want, are you all that they want.. to that end I doubt it. women tend to overvalue themselves and think there is no one else out there like them, while that may be true on paper, it not a reality as sooner or later there will be a younger, hotter version of you out there somewhere and you then realize you are not some rare person but a radily avalible commodity that is direct competition with other women very much like you for a shrinking pool of the "wishlist / dream " guy

It often happens that we can't have what we want, but look a likes are not the answer.
Do you pick the wrong guy all the time, maybe thats more the problem. If you select only unavailable guys it will never work. But there might be a lot of happy #2's out there:)

Hey, I have the same problems with women. So I guess it's just luck of the draw. At least women have it a little easier. Think about it how many times do you see a bunch of women talking over a guy and working up the courage to ask them out. Not too often unless he's "cute"

That is normal for everyone, you just dont want to lose the one who you loved in the first place but you have to get over it, I know its hard but in the end it will work out

You are asking us, as if we really are suppose to know why 'you' do this! On top of that you think the people in single and dating are going to know! Is there a psychology section of answers thing? Anyway, I don't know, but I'll the two points!

Thanks!

maybe its just that u have a specific preference in relationships, or in guys in general. Try and date someone out of your norm, ie a different race, different religion, whatever you,.. but you problem is that you definitely have a strong preference

Because you are living in a fantasy. You can't have the man you want because you aren't the woman the man you want wants.

Because you don't take your time to get to know someone first. (You date first fell in love, have sex, and then realized that the person is not your dream guy or else). good luck
