How old is too old for a teenage girl to date? For example, do you think a 20 year old is too old for a 16 year old?
I know a very mature 16 year old, who is not interested in sex or anything like that, and a 20 year old wants to date her. She acts like an adult, and is very responsible. Do you think the 20 year old is too old for her, and why? If not how old is too old?

There is no law against dating, just against sex. The girl and guy could date legally as long as they didn't do anything. The girl has been friends with the guy for 3 years, and he knows she will not have sex, so that isn't the issue. He may want that, but not in this relationship.

I would say that it's nobody's business, but the girl, her parents, and the guy - if they are all fine with it then everyone else should be too. :-)

Ok I have seen many of my girl friends fall into this trap. If you are under 18 you should go out with guys your age or close to your age. Older guys dating young girls do it for one reason CONTROL, they are the controlling type. Think about it if you were 20 would you want to go out with a 16 yr old? They cant drive, still in school, still live with parents, why would a rational person want that? There is something wrong with a guy that is 20 that wants to date highschool girls. Even though its only 4 years difference when you are that young it makes a big difference in maturity, it doesnt matter how mature your friend is , it is not a good idea.

Trust me I have seen this happen before many times, my best friend started going with a guy 23 when she was 15 she ended up marrying him at 18, he got really controlling and they got divorced a year later.

I would say 20 is a little too old for a 16 year old because the 16 year old is still in high school. 20 year olds have completely different lifestyles than teenagers still going to high school (and probably living with their parents). While the age difference isn't very much for two people that are out of high school, it may be difficult for the one shown. Also, while the 16 year old may not be interested in sex, the 20 year old may be, so it may be harder for both in that situation.

I'm assuming the girl is the 16 yr old... I wouldn't say that 20 is too old but take caution. It's a 20 yr old male, he is most likely wanting sex, maybe not right away but eventually he will. Hopefully she has parents that will give her boundaries about when she will need to be home and things. No spending the night at the boyfriends place. He probably has moved out and has no parents guiding him.

My opinion I would be to wait a few years to date someone who is four years older than you. Once you are out of high school the age difference is a lot easier to handle.

Yes a 20 year old is way too old for a 16 year old, who cares if she is mature, no 16 year olds are mature. All the 20 year old is interested in is sex. Date guys your own age.

I am 17 and i am dating a 20 year old. I am more mature then he is lol. It all depends on the maturity level. I have been with him for 2 years so i must have been 15 when we met and that would of made him 18. I would say that for a 16 year old girl 22 or higher is too old.

I think when you're 16 yrs. old 20 is too old. Your remark is she isn't interested in sex or anything like that...well the 20 year old is!

She may be mature for her age, but for her maybe 17 or 18 would be max. Just my take on it!

I personally think that she should date men 16- 18 years of age and once she reaches 18 start dating 18+ because their are some laws against dating people under 18 and even though they are only 4 years apart its still breaking some laws

I think it's ok for a 20 year old to date someone who's 18 but not younger then that. Your messing with trouble if you (not talking about you persay just someone in general.) date this 20 year old. Your still under age and he could go to jail for messing around with you. So yes I do think a 20 year old is to old for anyone that's younger then 18.

well i know the legal age limit is 3 years in california as long as they are having sex. my 15 year old sister ran away with a 19 year old that she was sexually active with. He got tossed into jail for a couple of days. if your over 18 just wait. If she's that great you can wait.
