Chances are very good this was not the first time, only the first time you found out. The other reason is that once a cheater, always a cheater.

Why would you want someone back who has already shown they don't respect you or your relationship?

if they say they've cheated only once.............multiply it by 3. just like when a girl says she's only slept with 5 guys. multiply it by 3. chicks lie man. don't forgive, get even. sleep with sister.

I'd have heck with that, myself. However, I'd respect someone that could if it was just once and the guilty party truly meant it wouldn't happen again.

No way. Not unless he proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he's changed his evil ways I would never take him back.....and it would take a long time to build that trust again.

i would forgive him/her, but i wouldnt neccesarily continue dating them. i dont think i would be able to trust him/her anymore.
