The same period that I broke up with him is the same period that he decided to go out with another girl (this was yesterday). He still wants to spend time with me, avoids his new girlfriend, yada, yada. But him skipping onto the next girlfriend really did not make me want to get back with him (I was going to resolve the whole "breakup" situation the next day)... it actually lowered my whole perspective of him. It actually made me think... much less of him... and I now have NO intentions of ever dating him again.
So why do guys assume that their ex will run back to them if they skip on to a hoochie?

Ha. I didn't pose the question as me wanting him back. He wants me back. The point that I was making is that I am disgusted that I ever want out with him.

I know what you mean, I'm going through it right now. We broke up in January after a 3 year relationship and then he gets engaged to a girl like a month later, and he's been calling me lately telling me how confused he is and torn between two girls. When in actuality he's torn between one because he was in such a rush to be with woman and feel loved, that he tired to find a another woman like me instead of better than me! I love him a lot and wish that we never broke up, but it hurt me to know that he could move along so fast with those kind of feelings, so now I'm doubting his intentions for me. So guys are jerks and I hope that they get it together before the end of time cause I'm running out of patience looking for the right man! How bout you?

Some guys figure that if you like them, no matter what they do to you, you will take them back. It's an ego thing I believe. It's as if they either expect you to forget or accept what they did as okay. I had an ex-boyfriend take up with a girl IN my office a couple days after we broke up and he actually had the nerve to parade their relationship around. When it was over, he asked if he could come back to me because he "didn't appreciate what I was bringing to the table" before. I laughed and told him to get over it but it goes to show that some people have nerve like you wouldn't believe.

Sounds like this guy has a immiturity problem. It's possible he may not even realise the way he is acting. However, you are worth much more than being used and abused!! There is alot of guys out there who would be lucky to be with you!! No man is ever worth your self respect and self esteem to be downed. Be true to yourself...you know that you are worth more than a piece of tale...pardon the pun. Just love yourself and the right guy will be there. PEACE

A guy is thinking that he can hurt you because you hurt his ego. The first thing a guy believes is that his penis was too small (not that I ever thought that myself) and that you want someone else to satisfy you. Yes men are shallow and yes sex is all we think about. So if he did move on, let him. There are plenty of good guys out there for you.

Because guys, are amazingly naive. They think that (a)because you broke up with them you, of course, want them and somehow finding someone else will make you want them more (???) and (b) you will obviously feel terrible about ripping there hearts out b/c they are obviously suffering so horribly while they are dating that other girl and obviously need you back. Duh
Lol, I know my answer was kinda um sexist but what ever

Historically, it's worked in the past. Women tend to feel 'less than' and then want the guy back, until they realize, like you did, that it's more of a show of character then they think. Good for you!

most guys think that the best solution is making girls jealous so they work harder to get them back...but they dont know that this actually really hurts girls and makes them lose all hope in ever getting back what they lost. i think your attitude is great, even though most girls would be bawling their eyes out after that. just keep going on, and look out for more possible guys (even though its so much more fun to be single)

Could you be any more self-centered?
If he has move on to another girl, means he has move on from you. If he is still calling or wanting to see you, it only mean he thinks you are still easy to get into bed.
