China is growing rapidly powerful, more advanced and growing a enormous army. and like Sparta to Athens, could the US go to war with China to show who's still the superpower? That's the last thing I want, I wouldn't want my family's homeland devastated by american troops.

Any country could go to war, but they wouldn't. It would be difficult to say who would win assuming there was no outside interference. It would be a close fight, and both countries would be left in devestation. America might have the advantage because they are already armed and prepared for war (with Iraq and all) but that also means that a lot of America's resources are being used elsewhere, so if it were to turn to Total War, China would win. Since there are always other countries to have something to gain from eachother, it would turn into a World War and it's really impossible to say who would win in the long run.

Anything is possible. In fact, the president of the US is fully within his rights to send troops ANYWHERE in the world in a military action for 90 days without cause or provocation. He doesn't even need to have a reason. No president has ever done that. And it would be social and economical suicide for either country to even consider such a thing. However, stranger things have been known to happen and with the fact that the world's leaders have been on edge since 9/11 and the war in Iraq, it might just happen. We would need to be prepared for a complete economic collapse if it did happen. I, for one, definitely don't want to see it happen. We don't need another war. We shouldn't be there now, but that doesn't mean I don't support our boys who are fighting and dying over there for us. Having worked for the Army National Guard has given me a whole new perspective on this issue.

anything is possible, but i think it is unlikely. Unless China attacks us or if we go to war with North Korea or Iran and China decides to ally with one of them.
By the way that was a horrible analogy. Athens and Sparta are in the same country. The Peloponnesian War was fought by Sparta to destroy the Athenian Empire. It was getting to big for Sparta's comfort.

Never. The Chinese have nuclear weapons.
Also no country has ever successfully invaded China. It would be a losing war.
Ok so maybe the Americans may go to war with China after all..... maybe if they could convince the British to go with them, they might win.....

(her BF)......You actually think that the devastation would come from troops?? Dude,... There's 100's of nuclear missiles with 1000's of warheads that both countries would use on each other long before troops for ether side would make it to ether shore for an invasion. And for that matter, once two of the 3 superpowers start blasting each other...they all will pound on each other PLUS any other country with a warhead will shoot it at whomever they concider hostle to help whomever they concider friendly.
...to be blunt,...we're all dead once any fighting starts.

Most likely, no. But anything can happen. Though our economies may be tied, everyone hates the Americans. As portrayed in BF2, the U.S went to war with China, but that was mythical.

I think there are a few people who dont like the chinese. But i dont think they ever really did anything bad to anyone. To me they seem like very good people who are just trying to live day by day. I may not like communism, but the chinese seem to be good people and i think they have come a long way. Also i think china is the only good communism i have ever seen. I have studied russia and what not but they had their little iron curtain going and had countless human abuses. I cant say much about china i had not really studied china alot i do know about Tinnamon square and thats the only dark side i have seen. But they seem like good sensible people just trying to get by in life.
