I recently had an extensive MRI done, after which I developed a severe migrane type headache sobad I am vomiting. Is this anything to be concerned about? Does an MRI cause such things to happen? Thanks!

I don't believe the mri itself can cause it. but the tension / emotional upset/ claustrophobic feeling etc. while having one done can certainly cause and contribute to a bad migraine.

Well I think you should go see a doctor for they can prescribe you a good medicine for your migranes. It's kind of strange that an MRI are causing you to have headaches. Take some tylenol for right now, see how it goes with that. Take care

The first thing to remember is an MRI is a magnet, so it is relevant if you have metal in your body somewhere. More than likely though, it has nothing to do with the magnet itself and more the physical stressors. If you had you MR because of head, neck, or spinal complaints, lying on you back for that period of time and in that position could have exacerbated any spinal dysfunction or nerve irritation. Your chiropractor can check your spine to see if it is related to your migraine and offer conservative treatment.

It's probably just the stress of being in the tube. I just had an extensive one about a week ago and was glad to get out of it after an hour. Take some excedrin and try to relax. If it doesn't work, call your Dr., but you should be OK.
