Why do men wear ties? Is it so we can lead them around? I assume they don't know where they're going without them. HAHA!

No idea about women, but pirates pierced their ears in certain places to improve reflexes. I'm pretty sure that piercing the earlobe, which is where most women have earrings, does not have any real use. I think women wear earrings just because they think it's "cute" or something.
It's like they think men actually care about ears. :)

Do you mean earrings? They aren't used for hearing, they are simply a fashion accessory. Some guys wear earrings too. As for other rings in ears... I really haven't seen and others.

Earrings have nothing to do with hearing. It's just for looks.

culturally, it started as a status symbol, and that rings true for just about any culture. it's a symbol of wealth in some cases, and mostly just a form of personal creative expression. and i'm going deaf, so i dont think its for hearing purposes...lol
