Losing a parent is a traumatic experience, no matter what your age. He probably just needs some time to grieve. I don't think he wants to dump you. He did make sure you know he loves you. Just let him know you're there for him if he needs an ear or a shoulder, and be patient with him. I was 32 when my mom passed away and I was devastated for a long time. It was 7 years ago and it still gets me sometimes. When a loved one dies you remember all the things you wish you'd said or did but can't and it's hard. Give him some time.

You've got to understand that guys handle grief different than girls. They tend to bottle up emotions especially in death of someone close. It may take him awhile to come out of that shell he has built around himself. It is a protective barrier that he wants to hide behind. Let him have his space that he needs. If he wants comforting or someone to talk to let him come to you, don't force yourself upon him. Most guys don't work that way.

Just try to comfert him and if not then give him some space. Then I guess sit back and be patient and see what happens.
