First of all, you shouldn't be losing that much weight if you are 17 or younger... and besides, it sounds like you have a very healthy diet and that's all that matters. track will definately help you slim down, but don't expect to lose 10 lbs... you probably don't even need to! just stay healthy and that's all you need to worry about for now.

when you want to lose weight, most people really just want to slim their appearance. by gaining muscle, however, you lose the flab and slim your body. muscle also burns more than fat.
depending on how far you run and how intense it is, you may gain some muscle in the leg area. i'm sure you'll lose some weight in the beginning, so it's a give and take situation.
for breakfast, i'd eat a bit more. it's better to eat more in the morning, less in the evening, and the least at night to help your digestion. however, that does not mean that you cut out the meats and stuff you normally eat at night. put that into lunch and a little into the morning. kix cereal sounds.. kiddy. i think cheerios, special k, or anything "fibery" would be better. sometimes, i eat a bowl of cereal with an energy bar or nutrition bar. eating the bar, especially if it has protein and fiber, slowly helps fill you up and keep you full until the next time you snack or eat.

The statement that gaining muscle will mean not losing weight is misguided. Volume wise, a pound of fat is larger than a pound of muscle. So if you filled jug up with muscle and a jug up with fat, the just of muscle would weight more, but burning calories and increasing muscle should still leave you with a net loss. The average conversion is 1 pound for every 3500 calories burned. So if you eat 2000 calories, burn 2500 (a run in the morning should be enough to give you the extra 500 over your normal metabolic burn), you will lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks, which is a safe and healthy weight loss.
As far as the hunger after breakfast, low calorie foods are a must for successful weight loss. High fiber vegetables won't spike your blood sugar and can help you feel fuller, longer. Read the package on anything you eat. Also, try a high fiber breakfast like oatmeal instead of cereal.

First of all you can't do both at the same time: you either work out to lose weight (cutting /diet) or workout to gain weight (bulking). There is simply no way you're going to gain a lot of muscle being in track because you're running alot and genetically it's really hard from women to gain alot of muscle. You're probably hungry because you're eating enough calories but you're burning more because of your sport. I would add protein to your breakfast, because alot of cereals are simply sugar which after an hour make you feel hungry again and eat every two to three hours :)

Far as being hungry after breakfast, try cutting your meals into 6 small meals threw out the day and dont eat after 6-7 pm. Since your body won't burn as much fat at night. Drinking a lot of water will help you to not be as hungry, also try chewing gum or brushing your teeth whenever you feel hungry, it will take your mind off your hunger. And if you are really hungry try eating something healthy like vegies and fruit. If you are not eating enough your body metabolism will slow down which will make it even harder for you to lose weight, so make sure you are getting enough calories and calcium. protein, and everything else you need to stay healthy. Good luck

My advice to you is to concentrate more on the track than the diet itself. Just diet does not work. You will get to a certain weight where you say you have lost enough and will go back to normal eating.... all that will do is just bring you back to top and even make you more big than you orignally were. Just avoid the foods you should not be eating (these you will know) and keep yourself exercising. There is also nothing wrong with giving yourself a treat every now and then but this does not have to be very often. You can say for example, give yourself a treat every week and pour a few beers down your throat! Hope it goes well for you.
