Well, they do have a musical of Romeo and Juliet. Check out the website at http://www.romeojulietmusicals.com To see songs, click on "Set Lists" on the left. This is my favorite musical, and has very beautiful music. The 30 second clip that first introduced me to this musical is right here : http://youtube.com/watch?v=3eKGqPP5jhc or ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=tNtYdkIpaxE ) You can look for more clips from different productions on YouTube.

You can also find some of the recordings of it here :
French Cast (The original and best!) - http://jukebox.mndp.ru/music/retj.htm

Dutch Cast (if you've ever seen the film version of Cats, the girl that plays Jemima is in this one) - http://jukebox.mndp.ru/music/retj-belg.htm

London Cast (hate to say, but the lyrics are awful. It didn't last long in London) - http://jukebox.mndp.ru/music/retj-en.htm

Well I was once in a play called "I Will" . Which was play all about Shakespeare and his plays, and we played a song called the forever ballet for the Romeo and Juliet scene. However, I am not sure how you can get a copy. The song is quite long but very beautiful.

If it were a country-fied Romeo and Juliet, you could use Whiskey Lullaby, a duet between Brad Paisley and Allison Kraus. I'll attach the lyrics!
She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

1st Chorus
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

(Sing lullaby)

The rumors flew but nobody know how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

2nd Chorus
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

There's a great Jazz standard called "Fever" that was sung by Peggy Lee. One of it's stanzas is on Romeo and Juliet. The tune and sheet music are both readily available online...here are the lyrics:

Never know how much I love you, never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me, I get a fever that's so hard to bear
You give me fever - when you kiss me, fever when you hold me tight
Fever - in the the morning, fever all through the night.

Sun lights up the daytime, moon lights up the night
I light up when you call my name, and you know I'm gonna treat you right
You give me fever - when you kiss me, fever when you hold me tight
Fever - in the the morning, fever all through the night.
Everybody's got the fever, that is something you all know
Fever isn't such a new thing, fever started long ago.

Romeo loved Juliet, Juliet she felt the same
When he put his arms around her, he said "Julie baby you're my flame"
Thou givest fever, when we kisseth, fever with thy flaming youth
Fever - I'm afire, fever yea I burn forsooth.

Captain Smith and Pocahontas had a very mad affair
When her Daddy tried to kill him, she said "Daddy-O don't you dare"
Give me fever - with his kisses, fever when he holds me tight
Fever - I'm his Missus, Oh daddy won't you treat him right.

Now you've listened to my story, here's the point I have made:
Chicks were born to give you fever, be it Fahrenheit or Centigrade
They give you fever - when you kiss them, fever if you live and learn
Fever - till you sizzle, what a lovely way to burn.
What a lovely way to burn.
What a lovely way to burn.

Franco Zeffirelli's movie version used "A Time For Us" (which Forest Whitaker used to brilliant effect in "Waiting To Exhale").
